Sanofi-Aventis, developer of the highly publicized anti-obesity drug Acomplia, will present new data on the drug's role in reducing metabolic cardiovascular disease risk factors at a scientific meeting in San Diego April 11th and 12th.

Dr. Pierre Rosenzweig, a Vice President of Sanofi-Aventis, will make the presentation at the Annual Metabolic Diseases Drug Discovery World Summit, which will feature the latest industry and academic advances by the leaders in the fields of diabetes and obesity.

The meeting, at which diabetes and obesity experts from around the world address the most promising lines of research, will focus on prospects for controlling the set of early risk factors that can develop into metabolic diseases.

Rosenweig's presentation will address the role of Acomplia (rimonabant) in clinical development in obesity-related metabolic disorders.

The presentation will follow by a month Sanofi's report of two-year results from the RIO-Europe trial of the effectiveness of Acomplia as an anti-obesity drug at the American College of Cardiology's annual scientific meeting in New Orleans March 7th to 9th.
